This is such a beautiful radio that it almost makes me forget my favorite Philips radios, the Fanette series. Significantly smaller in size than the Fanettes (143 x 80 x 33 mm, as opposed to 168 x 89 x 35 mm), it also has a cabinet that I was sure was nylon rather than ABS styrene, but a solvent test with acetone (on the inside in a hidden area) showed that it's not nylon. It may be some other plastic, neither nylon nor ABS -- it just doesn't feel like ABS, too soft and warm to the touch.
It may not be clear from the photos that the entire tuning area is reverse painted plastic.
The LW/MW band switch is at the top of the set, the on/off volume knob is at the bottom, and the tuning knob is on the right side of the radio. This example has a gorgeous tomato-red cabinet front half and a black back half. Nice!
