A big, lunchbox-size portable radio, and pretty gorgeous -- the entire tuning area is encapsulated in clear acrylic plastic. There are three large wheel knobs, for on/off volume, tone, and tuning. Four buttons on the top front corner of the radio allow for changing tuning bands. The name plate beneath the tuning area sports a red and white "Supertone" badge as well as the model number "PILOTE 404" in white on a black background. Below is a large mesh aluminum grille. A swing handle rests against the back of the radio, and a telescopic antenna is mounted on top. This set has three bands: LW, MW, and a 5.9--7.5 MHz bandspread covering the 49m and 41m SW broadcast bands.
