This image and the next (back face) really do demand some exposition, as this is an extremely rare graphic. Some years ago, because he is a great and truly generous person, Alan mailed me a whole slew of color photocopied images of early Sony TR ads and brochures. Recently I asked him if I could post these images on my site, and he said yes without any hesitation. Thank you, Alan!
On a note attached to these two TR-55 brochure images, Alan wrote,
"I believe this must be the first-ever TR-55 flyer prepared. Not even sure if it was actually used! While a few other TR-55 flyers exist, this is the only one that features an early mock-up (model) that differs from the product in many ways:
- cabinet color is different
- "TRANSISTORIZED" lettering is different
- tuning dial knob is different and lacks the raised lettering
- tuning dial numbers are thin and differ greatly from those used on the product"
