Russia: 1972/1975? Signal 601
Coat pocket clock radio, thermoplastic cabinet
5 1/16 x 3 5/16 x 1 1/2 inches / 130 x 85 x 38 mm
2-band LW/MW, seven transistors, one standard 9v battery
Manufactured at Leningrad NOVATOR Works, Russia,
or Kamensk-Uralsky Instrument-Making Plant, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia
A very nice cabinet design, though its history is a bit ambiguous: The comprehensive Russian antique radio site, narod.ru, gives Kamensk-Uralsky as the mfr location, far from Leningrad/St.Petersburg, as well as an initial 1972 mfr date, whereas other sources have it as 1975 and Leningrad NOVATOR Works as the mfr location.
As the "Made in USSR" imprint on the cabinet's back face indicates, the Signal 601 was an export radio, exported to both Eastern and Western Europe.
