Emerson's first shirt pocket radio, hard to find and very popular with collectors. The 999 came in five cabinet colors: red, black, turquoise, gray, and white.

This 1958 Emerson 999 and two earphone-only sets (Regency XR-2A, Philco T-3 "Veep") were the first US shirt pocket radios to be marketed after the 1954 Regency TR-1 and its many variants: the 1955 Regency TR-1G, 1955 Bulova 250, 1955 Mitchell 1101, 1957 Regency TR-4, 1957 Mantola M4D -- all those sets shared with the TR-1 either the same chassis or the same cabinet, simply variations on the TR-1.
