1960/61 Arvin Silvertone 1205

Small coat pocket radio, thermoplastic cabinet
4 7/8 x 2 15/16 x 1 9/16 inches / 124 x 75 x 40 mm
6 transistors, one 9v battery
Manufactured by Arvin, USA
Distributed by Sears, USA

A really handsome US transistor radio produced in three different cabinet colors, each with its own model number: 1205 black, 1206 "ice blue", 1207 "coral". I think the black cabinet works best here, keeping the cabinet's face and body together as a whole. As can be found on a number of other Arvin radios from the early '60s, this Silvertone has a reverse-painted dial face, and it's pretty gorgeous.

Collector Eric Wrobbel has suggested that the "atomic" or "orbit" emblem on the dial face is also a stylized "SR", for "Sears-Roebuck". I can easily see how it could be both.
