c.1962/63 Dainamic Deluxe DR 100

Shirt pocket radio, thermoplastic cabinet
4 5/8 x 3 x 1 1/8 inches / 117.5 x 76 x 28.5 mm
Ten transistors (NEC), one standard 9v battery
Manufactured in Japan

A very handsome 10(!)-transistor pocket radio (no lowly 9-transistor job here), with a gorgeous reverse-painted plastic dial area covering a slide rule tuning dial, a textured speaker grille and an easel stand. Who made this is unclear to me, but NEC provided the transistors, so maybe NEC made this set?

At first glance, I had no idea why the spelling was, "Dainamic" instead of "Dynamic". Then I Googled "dai" and found the word means many things in Japanese, but especially "big" or "great". There are many Japanese companies with names beginning with "Dai."

This set also appears as a "Peerless Deluxe" I got the model number for the Dainamic from Joe Haupt's Flickr page.
