c.1962 Kobe Kogyo KT-80

Shirt pocket radio, thermoplastic cabinet
4 5/8 x 2 15/16 x 1 1/8 inches / 117 x 75 x 29 mm
Eight transistors (TEN), two 1.5v AA cells
Manufactured by Kobe Kogyo Corporation; Kobe, Japan

A really sweet and slim radio with a slide rule dial on top in a clear plastic housing. A beautiful purple painted grille face, and brass plates on the sides, and a telescopic antenna if you wish to use it.

This KT-80 and the KT-80A are the same radio, just slightly different cabinet faces. It looks like both were first marketed in 1962.

A fairly unique design choice here was placing the volume and tuning knobs directly on the cabinet's face, set into a brass plate with Kobe Kogyo's logo on it -- nice!
