Here's a uniquely gorgeous radio, a two-band MW/SW set, or "All Wave" as proclaimed across its face, and it has the distinction of having a tuning dial that droops down at one end. Both cabinet sides slope up slightly inward at the top.
The "shortwave band" here tunes from 4 to 12 MHz, meaning it covers six entire shortwave broadcast bands in just four inches (the 75, 60, 49, 41, 31 and 25 meter bands) -- that's about on par for transistor radios of this size at the time.
Some NEC-79s have a beautiful lavender cabinet, and some have a cabinet color that looks like lavender that's seen a ghost -- it's not quite ivory, there's still a tint of lavender in there, but barely. This one's seen a ghost. Still gorgeous, though not as much. There's also a red and white version of this set.
