Shirt pocket radio
4 x 2 1/2 x 1 1/8 inches / 102 x 63.5 x 28.5 mm
Six transistors, one 4v battery
Manufactured by RCA Victor Co. Inc., USA
A really fine looking US shirt pocket radio, coming onto the market around the same time as a number of big, bulky "shirt pocket" radios were released by Sears (Arvin Silvertone 1201), and Philco (T-51), but this RCA 1-TP-2E is a compact shirt pocket radio that actually fits in your shirt pocket. And it has that "His Master's Voice" emblem on its metallic gold speaker grille. The brushed aluminum top half of the face surrounds a circular dial that has its tuning knob on the top of the set. One negative with this RCA is that it uses a 4v battery rather than a more standard 9v battery. And if you're wondering whether this radio was made in Japan for RCA, stamped across the bottom of the back face are the words, "MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
